The conference Journées de Microéconomie Appliquée (JMA), Days of Applied Microeconomics, takes place every year in a different University in France, in a French-speaking country or in a border country. It brings together academics and researchers, seniors, juniors, or Ph-D students, whose research contributes to the literature in applied microeconomics.

The 36^th edition will be held in Casablanca (Morocco),at the Faculté des Sciences Juridiques, Economiques et Sociales Aïn Chock (FSJES-AC) on Thursday 6^th June and Friday 7^th June 2017. It is organized by LASAARE (Laboratoire de Statistique Appliquée à l'Analyse et la Recherche en Economie, Laboratory of Statistics Applied to Economic Analysis and Research) and the research team in Econometrics Applied to Micro and Macroeconomic Behaviours Models from FSJES-AC, University of Hassan II Casablanca.

Claude Montmarquette

Professor of Economics, Université de Montréal

Claude Montmarquette has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago, and is emeritus professor in the Department of Economics at the Université de Montréal and fellow CIRANO. He is well known as a specialist in public choice economics, education and labor econometrics. 

For many years, he was a visiting professor at the Université de Paris 1 and the Université de Lyon. He has also done several stints at France’s Université de Clermont-Ferrand and at Morocco’s Université Hassan II. He is a renowned conference speaker who has given more than 135 seminars or conference presentations, mainly in Europe and the United States.

Claude Montmarquette is the author or editor of nine books and more than 70 scientific articles, and his findings have appeared in prestigious professional journals and educational works on economics and econometrics.

Over the course of his career, Claude Montmarquette has chaired several committees for the Quebec government. He has also participated in many national and international committees, such as the national aggregate competition for graduate teaching to recruit university professors in economics in France.

He is an elected member from the Canadian Royal Society and membre of Order of Canada. In 2013, he received a PhD in Law honoris causa form McGill University. In 2016, he became Commander of the Royal Order.
